Crossing borders

Representing some of the world’s leading international writers, publishers and cultural organisations, we drive conversations and debate, build networks and run bespoke campaigns with a genuine commitment to understanding our clients and their contexts.

Our ongoing campaign for the international Cundill History Prize, in partnership with Montreal’s McGill University, is delivered in Canada, the USA and the UK, and brings us together with some of the world’s leading historians, whether as jurors or contenders, who specialise in a wide range of historical periods, cultural and geographical contexts. Through our campaign over the last five years, we have raised the profile of the prize to the international publishing community,  leading to year-on-year record submissions, and have propelled successive shortlisted and winning authors into the global media arena,  leading to publishing deals in new territories.

Historically our work with leading international bookfairs including London Book Fair and Abu Dhabi Book Fair and with the British Council – in China, the Baltics and the Mena region- has widened our experience and perspectives working with authors and literary institutions to promote cross-cultural exchange.

In the Mena region we have supported Ahdaf Soueif and her initiative PALFEST over the years and work on the Edward Said Lecture in London, alongside London Review of Books and The Mosaic Rooms. We have recently won preferred supplier status to the British Council, for their projects in the Mena region.

We also represent the European Writers Festival and the fast-growing BolognaBookPlus publishing trade show,  growing their reach by implementing targeted media campaigns with territory-specific media, often with press releases translated into numerous languages and consultancy on programme management and author care.

We work with Gallic Books across their list including with their global literary superstars Antoine Laurain, whose novel The President’s Hat is one of the bestselling French novels in the UK, and Muriel Barbery, author of international sensation The Elegance of the Hedgehog. Our campaigns combine traditional and new media, events and digital activations to introduce authors, such as exciting, young, Icelandic thriller writer Eva Bjorg Aegisdottir and ‘the grandfather of Nordic Noir’ Gunnar Staalesen, to  new UK audiences.
